Pro Blogger: Managing Author Features

Managing Author Substitution is a simple as adding some text to the bottom of your blog content

  1. Log on to you Shopify store (if you havent already) via https://<yourstorename>.myshopify.com/admin
  2. This will take you to your stores Dashboard.
  3. In the lower left hand side you will see an option called ‘Online Store’. Click on it
  4. It will expand to present further options. Click on the option titled ‘Blog Posts’
  5. Select one you existing blogs
  6. Within the Content section. Scroll to the bottom of your article, this prevents the shortcode being displayed in your SEO results and then add the following [author].
  7. The following parameters can then be added within the shortcode e.g. [author name=”John Smith” ]
    1. name=”value” will provide an alternative author name for display in blogs and the article. Not specifying will display the original author bame
    2. bio=”value” will display biography within author box
    3. email=”value” display icon linked to email within authorbox and will also be used for Gravatar image lookups should image not be specified. E-mail address must be valid and contain ‘@’
    4. image=”value” path for custom author image. May be file name if present in asset folder or URL.
    5. facebook=”value” display icon linked to Facebook within authorbox. Value must contain full path to Facebook profile.
    6. instagram=”value” display icon linked to Instagram within authorbox. Value must contain full path to Instagram profile.
    7. linkedin=”value” display icon linked to LinkedIn within authorbox. Value must contain full path to LinkedIn profile.
    8. pinterest=”value” display icon linked to Pinterest within authorbox. Value must contain full path to Pinterest profile.
    9. snapchat=”value” display icon linked to Snapchat within authorbox. Value must contain full path to Snapchat profile.
    10. twitter=”value” display icon linked to Twitter within authorbox. Value must contain full path to Twitter profile.
    11. website=”value” display icon linked to a website within authorbox. Value must contain full path to website URL.
    12. youtube=”value” display icon linked to Youtube within authorbox. Value must contain full path to Youtube profile.
  8. Complete example: [author name=”John Smith” bio=”Silver Wordsmith” image=”johnsmith.jpg” facebook=”http://facebook.com/johnsmith” instagram=”http://instagram.com/johnsmith” linkedin=”http://linkedin.com/johnsmith” pinterest=”http://pinterest.com/johnsmith” snapchat=”http://snapchat.com/johnsmith” twitter=”http://twitter.com/johnsmith” website=”http://johnsmith.com” youtube=”http://youtube.com/johnsmith” ]
  9. Click the ‘Save’ button.

Multiple Authors

For multiple authors, add the author names into the name field together e.g. [author name=”John Smith, Ben Apple” bio=”The word weaving duo from Washington” ]
